Augmented Reality & Place-Based Learning: Layers of Place
Summary
This interactive workshop explores how augmented reality (AR) can be used as a pedagogical tool to deepen learners’ relationships to place, memory, and community. Drawing from Layers of Place: Austin—a collection of six location-based AR artworks—participants will engage with artists’ approaches to place-based storytelling, public history, and experiential learning. Through discussion, short activities, and case studies, the session examines how AR can function as a method for cultivating attention, care, and critical engagement with the spaces we inhabit.
